A Walden discussion rubric usually scores several things separately: whether you addressed the prompt, whether you supported it with a current source, whether you connected it to practice, whether you posted by the stated day, and whether your replies engaged substantively. Five scored lines, every week, for the length of a quarter.
Totalled across a term that is often a fifth of the course or more — comparable to a major paper, delivered in instalments so small that nobody treats them as consequential. A student losing two points a week here is handing back a grade band by the end and will usually blame the papers.
The review stage has a reputation for being slow, and the reason is mundane. Very few packets come back over an ethical objection. They come back because the pieces contradict one another — the consent form describes a study the method does not carry out, the appendix holds an earlier version of the instrument, the recruitment text promises anonymity the design cannot deliver. Every one of those is caught by reading the packet as a stranger would, in one sitting, before it goes anywhere.
All of it is catchable in advance by reading the whole submission in one sitting, as a single argument, instead of as a stack of forms completed on separate nights. If the board does write back, the reply is built as a table rather than a rewritten document: their remarks copied out in their sequence, and under each one what changed and on which page. A reviewer can then confirm rather than search, which is usually the difference between one more round and three.
Nursing programs at Walden attach a documentation obligation to every rotation, and it runs on approval rather than effort. Details go in before you may start. Hours go in as you work. An evaluation has to come back from somebody busy. Any one of those sitting unapproved will hold a term whose academic work is entirely finished.
Because it stalls on other people's timelines rather than yours, it is watched by a different person from the one holding your coursework — which stops a pending approval from quietly consuming the evening a paper needed.
